Old Bear Solar Farm

Project Website

This website is intended to provide our stakeholders with information and updates related to PACE Canada's proposed solar farm located within the urban boundaries of Killam, Alberta.

News Update:

Final Public Information and Consultation Session

A final public information and consultation session was held in Killam Tuesday November 7, 2023 6-8 pm at the Killam Agriplex. Click here to view the presentation.

Renewable Energy Permitting Moratorium

In light of the Government of Alberta's decision to place on a moratorium on the permitting of renewable energy projects, PACE Canada would like to take this opportunity to advise our stakeholders that our projects will continue to move through the development process. We will apply for permitting to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) in March 2024 and anticipate a fall 2024 construction start date if permitting is received. If you would like to read our submission to the AUC, please click on this link.

Public Involvement Program

The Public Involvement Program for the proposed project launched March 27, 2023 when all stakeholders within 800 metres were sent a notification package announcing the project details (click here for a copy of the notification package). An in-person Public Information and Consultation was held in Viking on April 20, 2023 and a second session was held virtually on June 27, 2023 (click here for a copy of the presentation).

Personal consultations within 400 metres of the project boundaries are still under way. If you wish to participate, please contact us at your earliest convenience.

PACE is commited to continuous stakeholder engagement throughout the life time of the solar farm. Click on this link for an overview of our Public Involvement Program.
